Planetarium Shows:

Join us for our free weekly planetarium shows at 7pm or 8:30pm each Friday! Tickets for both showtimes are available through this event listing.40 of our 60 seats are reservable for every show. Reserve seats at noon on the Sunday prior to a show. Reserved seats get claimed quickly, but we always have 20 walk in seats available too.

Our Friday night shows are geared towards a general audience and last about 75 minutes. We'll give you a live star talk highlighting what you can see in the sky right now, along with some of our favorite facts and visulatizations of objects in space, followed by a showing of the film Dawn of the Space Age, our full dome film selection for 2020. Planetariums have a dome ceiling where we recreate the night sky using our digital projector, so we can be cloudless and cozy while we learn about the stars. The WSU Planetarium seats 60 people.

Young Astronomer Shows:

The Wayne State Planetarium welcomes astronomers of all ages! Our Saturday morning shows last about one hour and are geared towards a younger audience. While children are welcome at our Friday evening shows as well, Saturday morning content are specifically designed with the younger astronomer in mind. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 2/3 of public show seats are reservable, 1/3 are available for walk-ins at the door. Ticketed attendeees should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the show.  After this time unclaimed seats will be reserved to walk-in members of the public.
